Arthur Balfour

Endorsed the Entente Cordiale with France (1904). Replaced Churchill as First Lord of the Admiralty after Gallipoli. Issued Balfour Declaration (1917) leading to the creation of Israel thirty years later. Quoted as saying 'Nothing matters very much, and few things matter at all.'
