Son of Edward II. Encouraged trade. Exiled his mother, Isabella, although used the connection to claim the throne of France, starting 100 years war. Won the battle of Crecy with first use of long-bows. Black Death hits in 1348. English established as language of courts. Outlived his eldest son, Edward, the Black Prince.
